Mexico’s Public Security Ministry said police found about 270 kilograms of a substance believed to be fentanyl in powder and pill form. The report said the haul is equivalent to around 14 million doses. Six suspects were arrested during the operation.
The seizure comes as Donald Trump continues to pressure Mexico to take stronger action against drug cartels.
Trump recently launched a regional coalition targeting trafficking groups and previously classified fentanyl as a “weapon of mass destruction” because of its role in tens of thousands of overdose deaths in the United States each year.
