China’s industrial robot production surged sharply at the start of the year as factories increased automation across manufacturing sectors. According to data released by China’s National Bureau of Statistics, the country produced 143,608 industrial robots in January and February, marking a 31 percent rise from the same period last year.
The report said the growth reflects Beijing’s push to expand robotics and physical artificial intelligence as key drivers of future economic development. Industrial robot output has continued to rise in recent years, reaching more than 773,000 units in 2025.

Production of service robots grew much more slowly. According to the statistics bureau, about 2.54 million service robots were manufactured during the same two month period, representing roughly 1 percent growth.
Industry data cited in the report said China remains the world’s largest market for industrial robots, accounting for more than half of global installations.
Technology firms are also investing in humanoid robotics to automate manufacturing and expand large scale deployment.
