Iran Denies Trump’s Ceasefire Claim

Iran has rejected President Donald Trump’s claim that its leadership requested a ceasefire, according to reporting by Al Jazeera. A senior Iranian official denied the assertion, contradicting Trump’s earlier statement on Truth Social.

The report said Trump had indicated the U.S. would consider any ceasefire only if the Strait of Hormuz is reopened. He also warned that military operations would continue until that condition is met.

Analysts noted growing uncertainty around the trajectory of the conflict, now in its fifth week. According to Al Jazeera, conflicting signals from Washington have raised doubts about how soon the war could end, despite earlier suggestions from Trump that a resolution may be near.

The continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz has disrupted global energy markets, intensifying economic concerns worldwide.

Experts told Al Jazeera that the situation reflects a mix of escalation and negotiation, with no immediate breakthrough expected as both sides hold firm positions.
