Iran held a large funeral procession in Tehran on Wednesday for senior military commanders and civilians killed in the ongoing conflict with the United States and Israel. State television reported that thousands gathered at Enghelab Square to honor what it described as fallen heroes.

The ceremony marked the second mass funeral held in Iran in two days. State media highlighted strong public participation, though authorities have restricted coverage of anti government views during the war.

Meanwhile, the bodies of 84 Iranian sailors killed in a recent naval strike are expected to be returned to Iran. According to Reuters and the Associated Press, a Sri Lankan court ordered the return of the bodies after the Iranian warship IRIS Dena was struck by a U.S. submarine off Sri Lanka’s southern coast.

Thirty two crew members survived the attack. Sri Lanka has also issued visas to more than 200 sailors from another Iranian vessel that experienced engine trouble in the same area.
