Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Tuesday that he would strongly defend Tehran’s position during his visit to New York for the United Nations General Assembly, according to Iranian state television.
Pezeshkian said Iran would use the international gathering to present what he described as the country’s grievances and argue that its people had remained resilient despite what he called unfair treatment and injustice.
The US has approved UN visits for some members of Iran’s delegation despite the conflict. However, the State Department said the Iranian officials will face movement restrictions while in the country.
Pezeshkian departed Iran on Tuesday, saying his delegation would use the diplomatic opportunity to communicate Tehran’s position to the international community.
