Iranian officials have interpreted the Democratic Party's victory in the 2026 US midterm elections as a rejection of President Donald Trump's war against Iran.

Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf declared that American voters had delivered a clear message of "NO TO WAR", warning Washington against disregarding public sentiment.

The November 3 elections resulted in Democrats taking control of both chambers of Congress. Fox News reported that young voters, independents, rural communities and Hispanic voters shifted away from Republicans amid concerns over the Iran war, tariffs, inflation and Trump's conduct.

Trump congratulated Democrats on their victories, expressing confidence that he could work with the opposition while retaining presidential veto powers.

However, Ghalibaf issued a further warning, saying that ignoring the public's position would bring a "Nightmare". Trump maintained that the Iran war would end only when he decided it was over.
