Israel has shared intelligence with the United States alleging that Iran recently developed a new plot to assassinate President Donald Trump, according to a report by CNN citing sources familiar with the matter.

One source said the warning was delivered this week, while another said U.S. intelligence had already been tracking broader threats against Trump but had not independently verified the specific Israeli claim.

The report noted that some U.S. officials believe the intelligence could also be aimed at influencing Trump's decisions on possible military action against Iran.

According to CNN, the United States has long warned that Iran could seek retaliation for the 2020 U.S. drone strike ordered by Trump that killed Iranian General Qasem Soleimani.

The report said U.S.-Iran tensions have intensified as ceasefire efforts have weakened, although diplomatic talks on a possible nuclear agreement continue. U.S. officials also confirmed military preparations remain in place while Washington continues to prioritize diplomacy over further strikes.
