Israeli Troops Prepare For Ground Offensive
Israel’s Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, speaking to troops massed on the edge of the Gaza Strip, has told them to prepare to “see it from the inside”, with the expected ground offensive now appearing imminent.
Over a million people have been displaced and almost 3,800 killed in Gaza since the start of the war, following the deadly attack by militant group Hamas which claimed the lives of over 1,400 Israelis.
The 20,000 residents of Kiryat Shmona in the north of Israel have been evacuated after an increase in rocket and mortar attacks by Hamas and Hezbollah from Lebanon. In the West Bank, over 70 Palestinians have been killed and hundreds detained in an effort to prevent the war spreading.
Iranian-backed militant groups in Iraq and Syria have attacked U.S. bases, and the USS Carney in the Red Sea shot down missiles and drones fired from Yemen, potentially targeting Israel.
