J.D. Vance Joins Wife on Greenland Trip

J.D. Vance Announces His Plan To Join His Wife Usha Vance's Trip To Greenland In A Video Posted To X / Screenshot

Vice President J.D. Vance will accompany his wife, Usha, on her controversial trip to Greenland this week, a decision that has heightened diplomatic tensions between both countries. He also altered the United States’ itinerary on the Arctic island.

Originally, Usha Vance was set to attend a prestigious dog-sledding race and explore Greenland’s culture. However, J.D. Vance’s addition to the trip marks a significant change of plans. Instead of the planned cultural tour, the Vances will visit the Pituffik Space Base, a U.S. military facility in the northwest, where they will receive a briefing on Arctic security and meet with the U.S. service members.

The change in plans coincides with growing concerns over U.S. interests in the Arctic region. Vance stated that he would join his wife on the trip because he didn’t want her “to have all this fun by herself.” Earlier White House statements emphasized the cultural aspects of the visit, but the revised plan now focuses on military and security matters. Additionally, the trip’s original security advisor, Mike Waltz, wasn't mentioned in the video.
