An injured bald eagle believed to be Jackie, a well-known bird from California's Big Bear Valley, has died after nearly three weeks of intensive medical treatment.

According to the Ojai Raptor Center, Jackie died Monday, August 10, following her rescue near Dana Point Park on July 17.

The report said Jackie was found on the ground after an altercation with two younger eagles and was transported about 170 miles for specialized treatment.

A team of nine veterinarians and wildlife officials worked to save her, including providing a blood transfusion.

Despite intensive care, Jackie's condition deteriorated. Her packed cell volume, a measure associated with red blood cell levels, fell below 6% on August 8 before briefly improving to 9% the following day.

Friends of Big Bear Valley mourned the loss of Jackie, who hatched in 2012 and became a local symbol through the Big Bear Eagle Nest Cam.

Her longtime partner, Shadow, was last seen on the camera on July 23.
