Vice President JD Vance is set to visit Hungary to back Prime Minister Viktor Orbán ahead of a closely contested national election, reported by multiple outlets. President Donald Trump has expressed full support for Orbán, even as polls indicate his Fidesz party could lose power after 16 years.
According to the report, Orbán faces a strong challenge from opposition leader Peter Magyar of the pro-European Tisza party, who has pledged to restore ties with the European Union and unlock billions in frozen funds. The election comes amid concerns over migration, energy costs, corruption and rule of law issues.

The report said Orbán has maintained closer ties with Russia and has criticized the EU, while Magyar has signaled a more cooperative approach with Western allies.
Despite this, analysts note that key issues such as migration and Ukraine policy remain divisive across both camps. The outcome could reshape Hungary’s foreign policy and its position within Europe.
