JD Vance In Israel To Bolster Fragile Gaza Ceasefire

Vice President JD Vance arrived in Israel on Tuesday to help preserve a fragile Gaza ceasefire, which has been repeatedly violated since it took effect on October 10.

His visit follows U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner’s earlier meetings in the region.

Vance is expected to discuss the next phase of President Donald Trump’s 20-point ceasefire plan with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The deal’s key unresolved issues include Hamas disarmament and the creation of a technocratic body to govern Gaza. Egypt and Qatar continue to mediate, but mutual accusations persist.

Hamas says Israel has breached the truce over 80 times, killing dozens of Palestinians, while Israel blames Hamas for delaying the return of hostages’ bodies.

Meanwhile, humanitarian aid remains scarce. The World Food Programme said only a fraction of expected supplies have reached Gaza, warning that sustaining the ceasefire is critical to preventing famine.
