Former President Joe Biden has emerged from political hibernation to make a campaign-like post on X amid reports that he wants to dive back in and help Democrats rebuild the party.

Biden has remained out of the public eye since leaving the White House in January, only occasionally posting on X to mark holidays or special occasions. But on Sunday, the former president made his first political post in weeks, touting Obama’s Affordable Care Act and arguing that “health care is a right” that should always be protected.

“Fifteen years ago today, I stood with President Obama as he signed the Affordable Care Act into law. It was a big deal then and it still is today,” Biden wrote as the Trump administration proposes modifications to the program.

“Under my administration, we focused on building on the successes of the ACA. I’m proud that we helped a record number of Americans sign up for marketplace coverage and significantly lowered the costs of prescription drugs and premiums. I believe that health care is a right, not a privilege – and we should always protect it,” the post continued.

Eight months ago, Biden was forced out of the presidential race by his own party after a disastrous debate performance. Despite the uproar in the party and the muted end to his political career, the 82-year-old is reportedly telling Democratic officials that he wants back into politics.

Biden has told multiple Democratic leaders that he is willing to raise funds, campaign and do whatever it takes to help the party fight back against Donald Trump, people close to the former president told NBC News. In February, the former president met with newly elected Democratic National Committee Chairman Ken Martin to offer his help to the party, sources said.

Former First Lady Jill Biden is also offering her help to the party as they try to rebuild, a source close to her told NBC News.

In the meantime, both Bidens are planning on writing books, the outlet reported. To prepare for his book, Biden has been occasionally commuting from Delaware to Washington, sometimes via Amtrak, to meet with his former staff, according to NBC News.

As the party reels from Harris’ defeat in November, Democrats have pointed fingers at Biden and the timing of his decision to drop out of the presidential race.

“She ran an extraordinary campaign with a very tough hand that was handed to her,” Mark Longabaugh, a Democratic strategist and former adviser to Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, previously told Politico. “The truth of the matter is, Biden should have stepped aside earlier and let the party put together a longer game plan.”
