Kamala Harris has not decided whether she will seek the Democratic presidential nomination in 2028, and people familiar with her plans say she is not rushing the decision, according to CNN.
The former vice president is concentrating on the 2026 midterm elections while maintaining contact with Democratic activists and candidates. Her fall schedule includes campaign appearances in Michigan, Nevada and Georgia, but she has no major policy speeches planned.
Several potential Democratic contenders are already taking steps toward 2028. California Gov. Gavin Newsom has suggested he would not run if Harris does, while other prospective candidates have indicated they will make their own decisions.
Harris has repeatedly said she is still considering her future. Her allies believe she can make the decision on her own timeline, with former DNC chair Donna Brazile suggesting she focus on the midterms before addressing 2028.
