Dozens of protesters gathered Friday outside an ICE facility near Chicago as Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem visited, prompting a heavy law enforcement presence.
Local, state, and federal agencies, including Broadview police and Cook County sheriff’s deputies, blocked streets and formed lines to manage the demonstration.

At least one protester was arrested for disobeying police orders after refusing to move from the roadway, according to the Illinois State Police. Officers were reportedly instructed to don gas masks during the standoff.
The facility, located about 10 miles west of Chicago, has been the site of repeated protests over intensified ICE enforcement and aggressive tactics in recent weeks.

El Centro Border Patrol Sector Chief Gregory Bovino was present to direct both protesters and media away from sensitive areas. Authorities have closed several major streets, including 25th Avenue, to maintain security.
The demonstration highlights ongoing tensions around federal immigration enforcement in Illinois.
