Far-right activist Laura Loomer drew backlash after body-shaming Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) in a social media post, claiming she had gained “at least 50 pounds” since entering Congress.
The comment, made in response to a video of Ocasio-Cortez at New York City’s Puerto Rican Day Parade, was widely condemned online as “disgusting” and hypocritical. Users responded by mocking Loomer’s appearance and urging her to seek therapy.

Loomer escalated the controversy by further accusing Ocasio-Cortez of supporting “jihadist” New York Assembly member Zohran Mamdani, who co-sponsored a bill aimed at ending nonprofit funding of Israeli settlement activity. Loomer claimed Mamdani’s bill would ban support for Israel and create a bureau to fine violators.
Neither Ocasio-Cortez nor Mamdani has responded publicly.
