Billionaire investor Leon Black has sued the House Oversight Committee and declined to appear for a scheduled deposition as lawmakers investigate Jeffrey Epstein’s network.
According to CNN, Black’s attorneys argue that congressional subpoenas seeking multiple non-disclosure agreements are overly broad, unrelated to Epstein and intrusive toward third parties. His legal team says the subpoenas are invalid and that Black will pursue legal remedies over the dispute.
Democratic Rep. Robert Garcia called for Black to be held in contempt immediately, citing his financial relationship with Epstein and allegations made against Black.
Black previously gave a voluntary interview in June, but it ended after Comer issued subpoenas when Black declined to answer several questions. Black has denied abusing women, having sexual relations with minors or knowingly supporting Epstein’s crimes.
