Meta has announced stricter content rules for Instagram teen accounts, aligning them with PG-13 movie standards. The update expands the platform’s safety settings to limit exposure to strong language, violent or suggestive content, risky stunts, and drug-related posts.
Teen Accounts will be guided by PG-13 movie ratings, meaning teens will see content on Instagram that’s similar to what they’d see in a PG-13 movie, by default.https://t.co/WBJx9bWyTx

Teens will no longer be able to follow or interact with accounts that regularly share age-inappropriate material. The company also said its AI chatbot will now avoid responses unsuitable for younger users.
Parents linked to their teen’s accounts can activate a new “Limited Content” mode that further filters what teens see and restricts comment or chat interactions.

The new policies will automatically apply to all users under 18 in the U.S., U.K., Australia, and Canada, before expanding globally.
Meta said the move responds to parental concerns and aligns with independent content-rating standards, though advocacy groups remain skeptical about the effectiveness of Instagram’s teen protections.
