A wave of countries recognizing Palestinian statehood around a special UN conference in New York is ramping up pressure on Israel and putting key allies at odds with the Trump administration.

On Sunday, the UK, Australia, Canada, and Portugal officially recognized a Palestinian state, adding momentum ahead of the high-profile gathering. The conference, co-hosted later today by French President Emmanuel Macron and Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, is expected to bring further announcements.
Other European nations – including France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Andorra, San Marino, Malta, and possibly New Zealand and Liechtenstein – are also poised to join the list.
