Navy reservist Jack Pearadin discovered a 6.03-carat yellow diamond at Arkansas’ Crater of Diamonds State Park, livestreaming the find on TikTok.

He named the stone the “American Dream.” Pearadin, originally from Missouri, has searched for gems for more than 12 years and has found more than 300 diamonds at the park.

The potential value of the unusually large stone remains uncertain. Pearadin said some collectors believe it could be worth more than $1 million, while an experienced appraiser cited by The Associated Press estimated its value at about $250,000. Most diamonds found at the park weigh around a quarter of a carat.

Pearadin plans to share proceeds with fellow gem hunter Michael Schumacher of Wisconsin, who helped excavate the gravel where the diamond was found.

He said he hopes to use his share to open a crystal mine. Crater of Diamonds is one of the few U.S. sites where the public can search for diamonds and keep what they find.
