Nearly 60 percent of Ukrainians believe President Volodymyr Zelensky is personally responsible for the actions of a close associate at the center of the country’s largest corruption scandal, according to a new poll by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology.
The survey found that 59 percent blame Zelensky for the role of Timur Mindich, a former business partner now under investigation in a corruption case involving state-run nuclear power company Energoatom.
Another 30 percent disagreed, while 11 percent were undecided. About 77 percent of respondents said they were aware of the investigation.

Mindich fled Ukraine before charges were filed and was later sanctioned by Zelensky. The scandal resurfaced after anti-corruption authorities searched offices linked to senior officials, followed by the dismissal of a powerful presidential aide.
Despite the controversy, a separate poll shows trust in Zelensky has rebounded to 61 percent in mid-December. Still, two-thirds of respondents believe corruption has increased since Russia’s 2022 invasion.
