Nepal Flood Disaster Leaves Hundreds Missing, Including Americans

At least 95 people have died and more than 380 remain missing after devastating flash floods swept through northern Nepal, according to authorities cited by CBS News.

The report said at least three Americans are among the missing foreign nationals, with hundreds of other tourists also unaccounted for. Indian, British, Malaysian, South Korean and other foreign nationals are among those listed as missing.

Nepalese police said nearly 30 officers are also missing. Rescue efforts have been complicated by the country’s mountainous terrain, while helicopters have struggled to reach some affected communities.

The Nepal Electricity Authority reported damage to six major hydropower and transmission facilities. Prime Minister Balen Shah said emergency teams, medical personnel and the Red Cross had begun relief operations.

India has placed states bordering Nepal on high alert as rescue efforts continue.

The benchmark 10-year Treasury yield was little changed at 4.647%, while the 30-year yield stood at 5.181%. The 2-year yield was also steady at 4.199%.
