Netanyahu Vows Strong Response To Palestinian Recognition

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, backed by President Donald Trump, vowed Sunday to respond to Western nations that recently recognized a Palestinian state.

Speaking at his weekly Cabinet meeting, Netanyahu said Israel would fight “slanderous propaganda” at the UN and warned that a Palestinian state would reward terrorism.

The Israeli leader hinted at expanding settlements and suggested stronger measures may follow his meeting with Trump next week. Far-right members of his coalition urged full annexation of the West Bank and the dismantling of the Palestinian Authority.

The move by close allies such as Britain, Canada, and Australia has deepened Israel’s diplomatic crisis but also reinforced Netanyahu’s reliance on U.S. support. Secretary of State Marco Rubio acknowledged efforts to dissuade allies from recognition failed.

Critics within Israel argue Netanyahu squandered opportunities for diplomacy while intensifying Gaza operations and expanding West Bank settlements.
