New Evidence Emerges In Cornell Sexual Assault Lawsuit

Newly obtained text messages have emerged in the investigation into an alleged gang rape at Cornell University in 2024, according to CBS New York.

A former student, identified as Jane Doe, has alleged that she was drugged and sexually assaulted at the Chi Phi fraternity house. Prosecutors recently announced they were reopening the investigation after reviewing the allegations.

CBS New York reported that the messages, provided by a source, were exchanged between Doe and one of the men named in her civil lawsuit two days after the alleged incident.

In the exchange, the man apologized for how the night unfolded and said his memory was unclear. Doe also described her memory as clouded and referred to heavy intoxication. She said the sexual activity was not illegal and later suggested meeting again without other people or ketamine.

Doe's attorney, Thomas Giuffra, said she was traumatized and in denial after the incident. He disputed the prosecutor's characterization of her original statement and said investigators failed to fully pursue available evidence. Two other defendants deny the allegations.
