New York Times Executive Fatally Shot In Bay Area Park, Police Say

New York Times executive Jonathan McKinsey, 40, was fatally shot Saturday at the Dublin Sports Grounds in California, police said.

His parents-in-law, Shouyong Zhang and Shili Chen, were arrested nearby on suspicion of murder and are being held without bail at Santa Rita Jail.

Court records show McKinsey had previously faced two misdemeanor child-abuse charges. A probable-cause declaration in that case alleged that he struck his six-year-old son in the face.

Zhang and Chen are scheduled to appear in court Wednesday morning for arraignment. Police have not publicly established a motive for the shooting, and the investigation remains ongoing.
