Newsmax has filed an antitrust lawsuit against Fox News, accusing the Murdoch-owned network of monopolizing the right-leaning cable news market. The lawsuit, submitted Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, charges Fox with using “exclusionary contracts” and coercive tactics to block or marginalize competitors like Newsmax.
Newsmax founder and CEO Christopher Ruddy said Fox has long abused its dominant position by intimidating distributors. “Those days are over,” Ruddy declared, vowing to restore fairness and expand choices for conservative viewers.

The lawsuit seeks monetary damages and asks the court to bar Fox from continuing its alleged monopolistic practices. If Newsmax prevails, damages could be tripled under federal law.
Both Fox and Newsmax declined immediate comment on the filing. The case marks an escalation in the battle for dominance within conservative media, as Newsmax positions itself as a challenger to Fox’s influence.
