OpenAI CEO Sam Altman told employees that OpenAI’s flagship product, ChatGPT, has returned to strong growth, exceeding 10 percent monthly gains, according to an internal message reported by CNBC.

Altman said more than 800 million users now access ChatGPT weekly.

He also highlighted rapid growth in Codex, OpenAI’s coding tool, which reportedly expanded by about 50 percent in a single week after the launch of a new model. Codex competes with products from Anthropic, a rising rival in AI coding software.

The update comes as OpenAI prepares to test limited advertising within ChatGPT. The company has said ads will be clearly labeled and will not influence responses.

Altman and executives are also pitching investors as OpenAI moves toward a potential $100 billion funding round. Discussions reportedly involve major technology firms and existing backers.
