OpenAI has launched ChatGPT for Financial Services, a platform designed to automate time-consuming tasks commonly performed by investment bankers, including company research, financial analysis and pitchbook preparation.

Developed with financial firms Morgan Stanley and Evercore, the service uses OpenAI’s GPT-6 Astra model and provides access to financial datasets from LSEG, PitchBook and Daloopa.

Its citation features allow users to trace figures and claims to their underlying sources as they develop analyses.

OpenAI says the platform is intended to improve efficiency, but its capabilities could challenge the traditional apprenticeship model in investment banking, where junior employees often perform extensive research and analysis during long working hours.

The launch is part of OpenAI’s broader push into enterprise software, with the company expected to develop specialized AI solutions for additional industries.

The expansion comes as OpenAI pursues further growth in its corporate business ahead of a potential 2027 initial public offering.
