Paramount Plans Unified Streamer With HBO Max After WBD Deal

HBO Max and Paramount+ will merge into a single streaming platform following Paramount’s acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery, executives confirmed Monday. Paramount CEO David Ellison said the combined service will integrate both companies’ streaming portfolios over the coming years.

Together, the platforms currently reach more than 200 million direct to consumer subscribers across 100 countries, though overlap is expected to reduce that total.

The merged platform will bring together major franchises including Game of Thrones, The Sopranos, Yellowstone, and Star Trek. Ellison did not announce a name, signaling another likely rebrand for HBO Max.

As part of the deal, Paramount will also acquire CNN and said it has no immediate plans to divest cable assets. The future of CNN’s streaming service remains unclear.
