The US military has deployed two additional Patriot missile batteries to protect energy facilities in Saudi Arabia and Qatar amid concerns that President Donald Trump could resume major combat operations against Iran, according to Axios.

One battery was sent to defend a key Saudi oil facility, while another was deployed to protect a Qatari natural gas site. The moves followed lobbying by Saudi and Qatari leaders, who previously warned Trump that Iranian retaliation could target their energy infrastructure.

US officials said protecting those facilities could also help secure Saudi approval for US aircraft to use its airspace if military operations resume.

The deployments come as Patriot batteries and interceptors face high demand across the Middle East. Additional systems have been transferred from other US commands, raising concerns about military readiness elsewhere.

Meanwhile, the US is increasing regional forces. The USS Theodore Roosevelt carrier strike group is heading toward the Middle East, while an amphibious group carrying thousands of Marines is also deploying.
