President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social that his involvement led to a ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand, declaring, “after the involvement of President Donald J. Trump, both countries have reached a ceasefire and peace.”
Trump said he spoke with the acting Prime Minister of Thailand and the Prime Minister of Cambodia and credited the outcome with saving “thousands of lives.” He added that his trade team would restart negotiations with both countries.
“I have now ended many wars in just six months — I am proud to be the President of peace!” Trump wrote, though he provided no details about the conflict or diplomatic process.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed U.S. involvement in the talks held in Kuala Lumpur, where both sides agreed to end hostilities and establish a joint boundary committee.
The United States applauds the ceasefire declaration between Cambodia and Thailand announced today in Kuala Lumpur. @POTUS and I remain committed to ending this conflict.

Despite early reports of continued shelling, both governments have committed to de-escalation. Observers will monitor compliance, as over 200,000 people have already been displaced. Trump has since ordered a restart of stalled trade talks.
