President Donald Trump shared a controversial meme video on his Truth Social account late Thursday that depicted former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama as apes.

The clip was part of a longer meme video promoting claims about voting machines in the 2020 election. The White House defended the post, dismissing criticism as manufactured outrage.

Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the video portrayed Trump as the “King of the Jungle” while Democrats appeared as characters inspired by The Lion King. She urged the media to focus on issues that matter to voters.

Democratic leaders strongly condemned the post, calling it offensive and demanding Republican leaders denounce it.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and California Governor Gavin Newsom issued sharp rebukes on social media. The Obama Foundation did not immediately comment.
