Public Says No To Tax Increases

Americans are struggling to make both ends meet amid a pandemic and runaway inflation. They are in no mood to pay higher or added taxes to fund more government spending programs.

60% of respondents in an Investor's Business Daily/TIPP Poll of 1,301 Americans conducted in early December said no to paying more taxes to fund more government programs, 23% were willing to pay more, and 17% were not sure.

Among the 29 demographic groups examined in this article, none had a majority willing to pay higher taxes for social programs. Instead, twenty-three groups showed a majority expressing unwillingness to pay more taxes.
