Russia launched its largest missile and drone assault of the year on Ukraine early Tuesday, ending a short pause on attacks against major cities and energy infrastructure that followed a request from U.S. President Donald Trump, according to Ukrainian officials and CNN.

Explosions were reported in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Odesa, Dnipro, and other cities.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia fired about 70 missiles and 450 drones, primarily targeting energy facilities across at least six regions. Tens of thousands were left without heat or electricity during some of the coldest days of winter.
Kyiv officials said nearly 1,200 residential buildings lost heating, while more than 50,000 people in Odesa were left without power.

The attacks followed trilateral talks involving Russia, Ukraine, and the United States in Abu Dhabi. The Kremlin has confirmed further negotiations are scheduled this week.
