Russian President Vladimir Putin said Friday that President Donald Trump’s 28-point peace proposal for Ukraine could serve as the foundation for a “final peace settlement,” according to remarks delivered to Russia’s security council.

Putin said the plan was discussed with U.S. officials before recent talks in Alaska and that Washington asked Moscow to make “certain compromises.”

He claimed Russia agreed to those concessions despite “complex issues,” while Ukraine rejected earlier versions of the proposal.

Putin added that the updated 28-point plan reflects those negotiations and said Moscow believes it remains a viable framework for ending the war.

His comments come as Kyiv faces mounting U.S. pressure to respond to the proposal, which includes major concessions to Russia.
