Republican voters are extremely concerned about Chinese ownership of American farmland, according to a Fabrizio Lee poll obtained exclusively by the Daily Caller. The poll, conducted by renowned Trump pollsters Tony Fabrizio and David Lee, found that 88 percent of GOP voters were concerned about the prospect of Chinese companies buying American farmland.

55 percent were “extremely concerned,” according to the poll, which surveyed 800 Republican voters nationwide from March 13-17, 2025.

A majority of those polled also expressed concern with Chinese control of the American food supply, and China’s influence on American companies and in American universities.

Chinese Communist Party-related companies bought up over 338,000 acres of America farmland as of 2020, according to the US Department of Agriculture.

The polling firm also tested 11 proposals which rated positively with the voters, including legislation to crack down on fentanyl from China, requiring state infrastructure projects to buy American-made products, and a bill to combat China’s efforts to steal American intellectual property.

Voters also expressed concern with lawmakers who would sign bills which would “outsource key parts of our food supply to China.” 68% of GOP voters said they’d be less likely to vote for a candidate who would vote that way. Only six percent said they’d be more likely to vote for a lawmaker who did so.

Republican lawmakers have previously sounded the alarm on Chinese ownership of American farmland, noting that many of the CCP’s land purchases have been near American military bases.

“China is infiltrating our culture, our farmland, and our skies because they see us as weak. This is not sustainable,” former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said in 2023.

Republican Texas Rep. Brandon Gill introduced a bill in the current Congress to ban China and Iran from owning American farmland, following in the footsteps of several GOP-led efforts to ban the practice.

“Republicans are very concerned about the outsourcing of our food supply to China and are strongly in favor of proposals to make sure that does not happen,” the poll’s conclusion read. “Furthermore, they will make sure anyone out of step with this way of thinking is punished at the ballot box.”
