Republicans Jimmy Patronis and Randy Fine won special elections on Tuesday in two Florida congressional districts, filling vacant seats in solid GOP strongholds. Patronis, Florida’s chief financial officer, won the northwest Florida 1st District seat, defeating Democrat Gay Valimont despite her significant fundraising advantage. He takes the seat once held by Matt Gaetz, who withdrew from a Trump cabinet position amid misconduct allegations.
Fine won in the 6th District, securing a victory over Democrat Josh Weil for the seat vacated by Mike Waltz. Both candidates benefited from President Trump’s endorsement, with Trump claiming credit for the victories on his Truth Social platform.

Although Republicans were expected to win, the races saw closer-than-anticipated margins, signaling growing Democratic enthusiasm. Fine dismissed concerns over the results, while Democratic challenger Weil called the race a warning to Trump and GOP leaders. The wins expand the GOP's House majority to 220-213.
Just received a call from the President. He’s the best. Couldn’t be more honored. Told him the $6 million against me couldn’t compete against his Truth Social posts. Ready to serve. Thanks for everyone’s support.
