Rishi Sunak Becomes Britain’s New PM

Former Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak is set to become Britain’s prime minister after the withdrawal of rivals Boris Johnson and Penny Mordaunt from the Conservative leadership race.

Sunak becomes the UK's first British Asian PM and, at 42, the youngest in more than a century, according to the BBC.

The ex-chancellor gained the support of well over half of Conservative MPs, with Mordaunt struggling to reach the 100 MP threshold.
