Russia launched a large-scale daytime drone assault across Ukraine on March 24, marking a rare escalation in its aerial campaign. According to Kyiv Independent reporters, explosions and air defense activity were heard in Lviv around 4:20 p.m. local time.
Lviv Oblast Governor Maksym Kozytskyi said two districts were hit, sparking fires in residential areas and injuring at least seven people. The report said parts of the historic city center, a UNESCO-listed site, also sustained damage.
Russia launched over 400 drones at Ukraine in a rare daytime attack on Tuesday, according to air force spokesman Yuriy Ihnat. Local authorities reported air defence engaging targets near the capital, Kyiv, and the western city of Lviv.

Other western cities, including Ivano-Frankivsk, were targeted. Mayor Ivan Martsinkiv confirmed air defenses were active, while local reports indicated drone strikes. Explosions were also reported in Ternopil, Vinnytsia, and Zhytomyr.
Ukraine’s Air Force said multiple waves of drones were launched across several regions, with officials warning the attack was ongoing. Earlier overnight strikes killed four people and injured 21, according to local authorities.
