Russia said it used its new Oreshnik hypersonic missile in a large-scale strike on Ukraine, marking another escalation in the nearly four-year war, according to CBS News and the Associated Press.
Ukrainian officials said four people were killed and at least 22 wounded in overnight attacks on Kyiv. Ukraine’s air force reported Russia launched 242 drones and 36 missiles, including the Oreshnik.
Air defenses intercepted most of the drones and about half of the missiles, Reuters reported.

Russian media said the hypersonic weapon struck a major underground gas storage site near Lviv, though Moscow did not confirm the target.
Russia’s Defense Ministry called the strike retaliation for an alleged Ukrainian drone attack on President Vladimir Putin’s residence, a claim denied by Ukraine and President Donald Trump.
Ukrainian officials warned the missile’s use near NATO borders threatens European security. Power and water outages were reported across parts of Kyiv.
