Russia is reportedly providing Iran with tactical guidance on drone warfare drawn from its battlefield experience in Ukraine, according to a Western intelligence official cited by CNN.
The intelligence source said Russia has begun sharing more specific advice on unmanned aerial system targeting strategies. Iranian Shahed drones, which Russia has mass produced for use in Ukraine, have been used to challenge air defenses across the Gulf region.

The official said the support goes beyond earlier intelligence cooperation and now includes practical operational lessons from Russia’s drone campaigns against Ukrainian forces.
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky also claimed Russia is assisting Iran with drones and possibly missile and air defense capabilities. Moscow has previously denied sharing intelligence with Tehran.
CNN also reported that Russia may have provided satellite imagery to Iran. U.S. officials said they are aware of the reports but continue monitoring the situation as tensions rise across the Middle East.
