A Russian strike on an energy facility in Ukraine's northern Chernihiv region left about 150,000 residents without electricity, according to the regional power distribution company.
Utility crews were working to restore service, while Kyiv's air defenses responded to a separate Russian aerial attack targeting the Ukrainian capital, the report said.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that Ukrainian forces had carried out strikes on a missile components factory in Russia's Kirov region and an oil facility located more than 1,300 kilometers away.
The report said the European Union also approved its largest sanctions package against Russia in four years, targeting nearly 220 individuals and organizations, along with banks, crypto operators, vessels and oil refineries, to increase economic pressure on Moscow.
