US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor is reportedly being considered for several senior positions in President Donald Trump's administration, including Secretary of State, following Republican losses in the midterm elections, The Washington Sun reported.
According to ten sources familiar with internal discussions, Gor, a former senior White House aide and close Trump ally, has been preparing for a potentially expanded role.
Other positions reportedly under consideration include White House Chief of Staff and Deputy Secretary of State.
Replacing Marco Rubio as Secretary of State would require Senate confirmation. Democrats had previously opposed Gor's ambassadorial appointment, while neither Rubio nor Chief of Staff Susie Wiles has indicated plans to leave their positions.
