Maine Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner is facing a sexual assault allegation from Jenny Racicot, who claims he forced her to have sex in late 2021.

According to the report, Platner strongly denied the accusation, describing it as false and stating that any claim of non-consensual conduct is categorically untrue.

The report said Racicot provided therapist emails and Facebook messages from 2023 that she says support her account.

Democratic activist Cheyenne Hunt helped connect her with the news outlet that published the allegation.

Following the report, Platner postponed campaign events scheduled for Sunday and Monday as his campaign came under renewed scrutiny.

According to the report, a recent Wedgewood Polls survey found that 75 percent of respondents believe he should withdraw from the race if additional negative allegations emerge.

Platner now faces a July 13 deadline to withdraw his candidacy while continuing his campaign against Republican Senator Susan Collins.
