Sony announced Thursday that it will increase prices of its PlayStation 5 consoles in the United States by about $50, Reuters reported. The hike affects all models, with the PS5 Pro now priced at $749.99.
The company pointed to rising costs and tariffs as key drivers. President Donald Trump’s recent tariffs on imports from China and Japan have fueled concerns of higher supply chain expenses.

While Sony already raised prices in European markets earlier this year, Wednesday’s announcement marks the first U.S. increase.
Rival Microsoft raised Xbox console and accessory prices in several markets in July. The gaming industry, which had anticipated strong growth this year with new hardware and titles like Nintendo’s Switch 2, now faces uncertainty.
Adding pressure, the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI release has been delayed to next year. Sony said the hikes apply only in the U.S., with no changes abroad.
