Universities in Iran have emerged as a new flashpoint in the ongoing U.S.-Israel conflict with Tehran, following a series of strikes on academic institutions.
According to CNN, at least 21 universities have been damaged, with Iranian officials alleging deliberate targeting of scientific infrastructure and personnel.
A post-doctoral fellow in Tehran told Al Jazeera there was no warning before strikes hit the Iran University of Science and Technology on March 28.

The report said Israeli forces claimed some campuses were linked to military activity, including weapons development. However, experts warned that attacking civilian academic sites could violate international law unless clear military use is established.
The strikes have heightened fears of escalation, with Iran threatening retaliation against U.S.- and Israeli-linked universities across the Middle East. Several institutions in Lebanon, Qatar, and other Gulf states have shifted to remote learning as a precaution.
Analysts said the developments signal a widening conflict with broader regional risks. Iranian officials have called for global academic solidarity, while residents expressed concern over potential military activity near campuses.
