The United States has spent at least $21.7 billion in taxpayer money to fund Israel’s war in Gaza since October 2023, according to two new studies by Brown University’s Costs of War Project.
The reports, which rely on open-source data and congressional notifications, estimate that U.S. military and security operations across the Middle East have cost up to $33 billion over the past two years.
Israel would not have been able to sustain its wars across the Middle East without the US financial backing of more than $21bn since October 2023, according to a pair of new reports https://t.co/bMlbZpooqL pic.twitter.com/oPP3jGYOmm

The main report says the U.S. provided $17.9 billion in Israel aid under President Joe Biden, and $3.8 billion since President Donald Trump took office. The studies argue that without U.S. support, Israel would have struggled to sustain its campaign in Gaza.
The findings were released as Trump urges an end to the conflict, with indirect Hamas-Israel ceasefire talks underway in Egypt. The State Department and Pentagon declined to comment on the reported figures.
