The U.S. Supreme Court is set to examine President Donald Trump’s executive order seeking to end birthright citizenship, marking a major test of his second-term immigration agenda.
The case, reported by CBS News, centers on whether the order aligns with the 14th Amendment, which has long been interpreted to grant citizenship to most individuals born on U.S. soil.

The Trump administration argues the amendment was never intended to cover children of undocumented or temporary residents. Officials say the current interpretation has encouraged illegal immigration and “birth tourism,” according to court filings.
Opponents, including the ACLU, argue the order violates established constitutional law and could affect hundreds of thousands of births annually. Lower courts have already blocked the policy, calling it likely unconstitutional.
Legal experts note that final authority rests with the Supreme Court, whose ruling could reshape U.S. citizenship law. A decision is expected later this year, the report said.
