One person is in custody after an overnight incident that caused property damage at the Ohio residence of Vice President JD Vance, authorities said Monday. The U.S. Secret Service confirmed that the Vance family was not in Ohio at the time.
The incident occurred shortly after midnight. Photos published by local media showed broken windows at the residence.

A Secret Service spokesperson said an adult male was detained for damaging the exterior of a personal residence associated with the vice president. The suspect has not been publicly identified.
Federal and local authorities are now reviewing possible charges. The Secret Service is coordinating with the Cincinnati Police Department and the U.S. Attorney’s Office, CNN reported.

Investigators are also examining whether the act was politically motivated or specifically targeted at Vance or his family. Officials said there is no indication the individual entered the home. A White House official confirmed the family had left the area before the incident.
