A tanker and container ship have collided off the northeastern coast of England, causing a huge fire on at least one of the vessels and leading to numerous casualties.

BBC and Reuters report that the vessels involved are the U.S.-flagged chemical tanker Stena Immaculate and the Portuguese-flagged container ship Solong.
According to tracking data, the Stena Immaculate—one of just 10 vessels the U.S. military uses to carry fuel during conflicts or emergencies—appears to have been hit by the Solong while at anchor.
The oil tanker is reported to be releasing jet fuel into the sea
